My second piece for children; and yes, I realise it’s the first one I’ve uploaded. In any case, I like this one more. The notes themselves aren’t that hard - there are only two strictly different “gestures” within the piece - even the change in tonality only shifts the original hand positions up or down; their overall shape is maintained. However, the expression is pretty freakin’ challenging for a beginner. I reckon, overall, it’s around an AMEB Grade 3 standard. In any case, if you fancy some sheet music, feel free to ask. What isn’t shown in this video is, first of all, the depth of dynamic variation - they are a bit all over the place, something which is hard to portray without making a piece sound schismatic/with a MacBook’s webcam. Also, the bottom and top octave of black keys is held down (using some form of weight - I used a coffee cup & coaster because I’m a poor student XD) for the duration of the song. What results is a very strange resonance, that I think lends itself to the overall flow of the piece.
Anyhoo, pretentious artistic statements aside, I hope you enjoy it. If I know you’re not going to kill me, I’d be fine to play this live for you, too :).
